So many people are moving to Texas, and for good reason if you ask me. It’s estimated an average of 1,000 people move to Texas every day. Keep reading to find out why.

One of the biggest reasons we are seeing people move to Texas is because homebuyers are able to work remotely, which means they are able to keep their current jobs (or find a new one), but live anywhere. Many areas of Texas offer more affordable housing than they currently have and offers people an opportunity to move to be closer to family and friends.

Average home prices in Texas’ major cities are as follows: Austin $344,000, San Antonio $249,400, Dallas $311,000, Fort Worth and Houston $260,000. Those numbers look pretty good when you compare them to cities like Denver, CO $442,000, Los Angeles, CA $710,000, San Diego, CA $620,000, Portland, OR $420,000, and Washington DC $435,000.

Many companies have recently been moving or expanding to Texas, mainly for tax benefits as Texas has no state income tax. The central location, access to multiple international airports, and container ports in the gulf are added benefits. Below are just a few of the companies that have moved or are planning to move to Texas. Austin has even been coined the next Silicon Valley.

  • Apple – New campus in Austin expected to open in 2022.
  • Tesla – New factory in Austin.
  • Toyota – Headquarters moved from Southern California to Plano, Texas.
  • CBRE – Relocating HQ from California to Dallas, Texas.

While moving to Texas might be a good financial decision or career move, it’s also good for your heart. The warm weather, delicious food and refreshing drinks, a history that goes way back, central location, diversity and cultural influence, Texas friendliness and hospitality, outdoor recreation, long pool and even longer golf season, and music scenes are just some of the reasons I am so glad I moved here five years ago.
