Hi, my name is Ally Gunza. It’s nice to meet you.
Background
I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Porkopolis. The Queen City. My husband, Mark, and I moved to Dallas at the end of 2016 and have been living life to the fullest ever since. I may still say “please?” when I need you to repeat yourself, but wait until you hear me pronounce “oil”.
I tend to bounce around a lot. Is there such a thing as having too many interests ? Jury is still out. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a BA in International Affairs. Ended up getting a job in finance straight out of college that lasted five years until Real Estate sounded like a good idea. A couple more years later I’ve found myself working in market research with a handful of side projects (including this blog!).
Dallas has been so good to us. We’ve had the opportunity to live in different parts of the city (Design District, West Village, and now Oak Cliff), make some incredible friends who are basically family, and eat a lot of really good food. We bought a house in the summer of 2020, so it looks like we’ll be sticking around! On top of all that, we feel so fortunate by our first daughter’s arrival in March 2025 and can’t wait to show her all Dallas has to offer.
Why I started this blog
I wanted to put myself out of my comfort zone. Connect with people. Share thoughts, experiences, and knowledge. Start discussions. I wanted a creative outlet to do all of that.
What I get excited about
I’m a very happy, optimistic person. Here’s what gets me most excited… Going to new places, plants, skincare, shopping, trying new things, food, beer gardens, wine, pirogies, meeting new people, traveling, friends, family, Tolkien, genealogy, color pallets, baby giggles, architecture, design, history, getting mail, giving gifts, lists, hosting parties, cooking for people, healthy hair, landscape design, textiles, dogs, construction, and hockey. The list goes on.
